Spartan Offshore Drilling's Consortium Wins "New Build" Platform Rig Contract with GSPC in India
Spartan Offshore Drilling, LLC, along with consortium members Tuff Drilling of New Delhi, India and BHL International of Houston, Texas, have collectively been awarded a three (3) year term contract with two (2) additional, one (1) year options for the design, construction and operation of a modular, "self-erecting" 3,000HP platform drilling rig by Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation, LTD (GSPC) of Ahmedabad, India.
Spartan will provide technical and operational assistance during the design and construction of the rig, then provide personnel and management for its operation. BHL International will design and construct the rig at their Houston, Texas facility while Tuff Drilling will own the rig and provide financing.
Under terms of the contract, operation of the rig is scheduled to begin by April 2011 in GSPC's Deen Dayal field off the east coast of India.
